May 19th is a Rector's day

On Monday, May 19, a farewell ceremony will be held for Ms. Małgorzata Dynak, who tragically passed away on May 7 on the Main Campus of the University of Warsaw. The funeral Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of Divine Providence, located at Dickensa 5. Further ceremonies at the cemetery will be private and limited to the family. By the decision of the Rector, there will be no classes or work duties at the University of Warsaw on Monday

The Faculty building will remain open on that day to students, doctoral candidates, and staff.

Rectangle-peg problem

Our Faculty hosts Dr. Lei Chen from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, this year's winner of the Kamil Duszenko Prize.

She will deliver a special lecture this Thursday at 12:15 in room 4420: The rectangle peg problem, which, according to the rules of the prize, is addressed to high school students at an "olimpic level". It will certainly be interesting and accessible for our students.

Call for a Co-Investigator in National Science Centre Sonata Bis grant, led by dr Neo Christopher Chung

XiAI Cancer: Explainable Artificial Intelligence for Cancer Imaging
National Science Centre Sonata Bis grant no 2023/50/E/ST6/00694

Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Co-Investigator (wykonawca) in AI/ML for computer vision, with a focus on medical images, at University of Warsaw. The XAICancer project, led by the principal investigator, Neo Christopher Chung (https://cbml.science), aims to create high performance deep learning models for cancer diagnosis and prognosis. In the process, we will develop novel algorithms (Vision Transformers, Self-supervised Learning, XAI, etc.) and train neural networks for cancer images (CT and PET/CT scans). The role involves developing cutting-edge ML methods for medical imaging data, collaborating with interdisciplinary and international teams, and disseminating research products through publications, conferences, and open source software packages.
