Shanghai ranking results
In this year’s edition of the Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, mathematics at the University of Warsaw moved up from the 301–400 to the 201–300 range, while computer science maintained its position in the 301–400 bracket, which is the best result in Poland.
Article in Nature Scientific Reports
An interdisciplinary paper on chromatin entanglement, authored primarily by our colleagues, has been published in Nature Scientific Reports.
The article predicts the existence of a structure in which the cell regulates gene expression through specific entanglement.

Best Paper Award for Maciej Skórski
Maciej Skórski won one of the three "Best Paper Awards" for his paper Moral Semantics Survive Machine Translation: Cross-Lingual Evidence during the ACM International Conference on Information Technology for Social Good (ACM GoodIT 2026). The conference's focus is on latest innovations, trends, and challenges in leveraging technology, data, and interdisciplinary approaches for Social Good and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Google DeepMind AI Masters Scholarship
Google DeepMind has funded two scholarships for students beginning a Master’s degree at the University of Warsaw, interested in AI, ML and their applications.
The Scholarship Programme aims to broaden access to education and academic development in the field of artificial intelligence and to support talented students who may face financial barriers to continuing their studies and pursuing an academic career.
Applications should be submitted by email to: deepmindfellow@mimuw.edu.pl between 12 and 23 October 2026.
