Call for aplications: 1 postdoctoral research position in the scientific project "XAICancer: Explainable Artificial Intelligence for Cancer Imaging", financed by National Science Centre

The National Science Centre project "XAICancer: Explainable Artificial Intelligence for Cancer Imaging", led by dr Neo Christopher Chung, is offering a postdoctoral research position at the Institute of Informatics, Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, University of Warsaw.

Requirements
Candidates should hold a PhD degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics, or a related computational field at the moment of employment. The degree should have been obtained no earlier than 7 years before the year of employment in the project. Candidates should have an excellent background in one or more of the following areas: programming (Python and others), data analysis, data science, classification and prediction, statistical modeling, or mathematical analysis of algorithms.

Call for Applications: Three Postdoctoral Positions in the NCN Maestro Project Beyond classical hydrodynamics - new mathematical description of physical phenomena

We are announcing a call for three postdoctoral positions in the research staff (mathematics) at the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics, and Mechanics, as part of the Maestro research project No. 2023/50/A/ST1/00447, funded by the National Science Centre (NCN).

Application Requirements:

An application should include Curriculum Vitae that:

  • presents an overview of the background and scientific achievements of the candidate;
  • lists all the candidate’s research works (including not yet published manuscripts);
  • gives a list of three experienced researchers that may provide references for the candidate.

We encourage you to submit projects for schools, conferences and workshops organized at the Stefan Banach International Mathematical Center (in Warsaw or Będlewo) in the years 2025-2027.

Scientific events approved by the international Scientific Council of the Banach Center will receive the status of 'Banach Center Events' and organizational assistance and funding, depending on the IM PAN budget.

"Snow's Eye" is the winner of the first edition of the Laboratorium Pomysłów program

We already know the winners of the 1st edition of the "Laboratorium Pomysłów" Grant Program!

One of the two awarded projects is "Snow's Eye" submitted by Jan Mikołajczyk, founder of the students' group Measurement Systems and Automation (Koło Naukowe Systemów Pomiarowych i Automatyki) operating at our Faculty.

The aim of the project is to build a drone to measure snow thickness in polar and mountainous areas.

We encourage you to submit your projects for the second edition, which starts on February 4th (and will last until February 28th).

1 postdoctoral research position in the scientific project „Tensor rank and its applications to signature tensors of paths”, financed by National Science Centre

The National Science Centre project “Tensor rank and its applications to signature tensors of paths” (project no. 2023/51/D/ST1/002363) is offering one postdoctoral research position at the Institute of Mathematics, Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics, University of Warsaw.

Requirements:

  • PhD in mathematics or an equivalent degree obtained before the start of employment (the PhD may be obtained after the application deadline).
  • Good communication skills in English.
  • A solid background in algebraic geometry or commutative algebra. Alternatively, a solid background in an area of mathematics related to the project and willingness to gain working knowledge of algebraic geometry.

Research experience in topics related to the project (such as secant varieties, tensor rank, or signatures of paths) will be an advantage. The ability to work on topics outside one's scientific comfort zone is also considered valuable.

Requirements:

Candidates should hold a PhD in Mathematics (or a related field) at the time of employment. The degree must have been obtained no earlier than 7 years before the year of employment in the project. Candidates are expected to have an excellent background in the relevant field and a record of scholarly achievements (documented by publications) related to the project.

A strong background in Fourier analysis, functional analysis, and interpolation theory is required.

1 postdoctoral research position in the scientific project “Measure data problems” financed by the National Science Center

The National Science Center project „Measure data problems”, led by dr hab. Iwona Chlebicka, is offering a postdoctoral research position in the Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics at the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics of the University of Warsaw.

We expect that candidates at the moment of employment hold a PhD degree in mathematics obtained no earlier that 5 years before the year of employment in project. This time can be extended by a year and a half per each child born or adopted being under personal care of the applicant. We also expect research experience in the field of nonlinear differential equations and fluency in English, both written and spoken.
During the employment period the employee cannot receive salary under an empoyment contract from any other entity.
Candidates eligible to participate in the competition must meet the requirements specified in Article 113 of the Law in Higher Education and Science of July 20, 2018 (Journal of Laws 2024, item 1571, as amended).
