In the talk I shall present a counterexample to a conjecture of Gill about the exact value of the weak-type (1,1) constant of some Hardy-type operators (which arise when one restricts the Beurling-Ahlfors transform to certain radial function subspaces). I plan to briefly discuss some general background, as well as connections to probabilistic methods, but in the main part of the talk we will work only with functions on the real-line and we will use only elementary calculus.
