Starting with classical polynomials over fields, we will consider first evaluations of polynomials over division rings, then consider the evaluation of polynomials in Ore extensions and finally evaluations of iterated Ore polynomials. We will give different possible definitions and compare them with the classical case. A particular role will be played by the pseudo-linear maps. We will show links with what are called linearized polynomials. We will also mention works by Penas and, following a recent paper by Aryapoor, we will show how to construct some skew algebraic closure. If time permits, we will also present some connections with coding theory.
