Mathematical oncology is a term that began to gain popularity with the establishment of centers around the world in which scientists of various specialties, including mathematicians working on mathematical modeling of the studied processes and therapies, began to comprehensively deal with the problem of cancer. I will talk about the beginnings of my adventure with this type of modeling, discuss several examples of mathematical models of specific cancer therapies, and try to emphasize the role of control theory in such modeling. Eventually, I will present the idea of personalized treatment basing on the example of immunotherapy.
