Constructing homology theories from algebraic groups: K-
theory and elliptic cohomology
Summary: I will apply the ideas from the second talk to construct
(with some details omitted) homology theories from formal groups that
arise in nature. This will lead, for example, to various versions of K-
theory and to the recent new theory of elliptic cohomology and
topological modular forms.
