Below is some technical information
Student mail account and USOSWeb
Once you have submitted your recruitment documents, your status in IRK will change to ‘admitted’ within 1-2 days. After another few days, you will be able to log in to your USOSWeb account and student mail. We will let you know when your accounts are active on the FB page of the student office.
In MIM's USOWeb you will find, among other things, course groups at the faculty of MIM , take part in registration for courses at MIM, and apply for a place in a student residence through it (the application round for new students lasts from 5-22 August 2024). The rules for applying for a student residence are described on the University of Warsaw Student Welfare and Support Office website.
Students looking for accommodation other than UW dormitories are encouraged to browse the announcements posted on the FB group MIMUW students.
From now on, you will receive all information by email to the student account created for you. Use student email to contact faculty members. When writing to the student office, remember to put the abbreviation of your field of study (MAT/INF/BIOINF/ML) in the subject line of your message - thus your message will reach to the right person faster.
You will have two email addresses related to the two accounts generated for you:
- a faculty of MIM account and an email address in the domain @students.mimuw.edu.pl
instructions for logging in to USOSweb and MIM student mail.
For more information, visit the Computer Lab website
and
- google account and related email address @student.uw.edu.pl
for more information see: University of Warsaw IT Services
We strongly advise you to check both email addresses regularly (or set up an email redirect).
Registration for courses
In your first semester of study, you will be administratively registered for the obligatory courses provided by the faculty of MIM and you will be assigned to practical class groups. Information on group allocation will be visible in usosweb in the second half of September. Students not satisfied with their allocation will be able to use the group place exchange.
You need to register yourself for P.E., which is obligatory in the winter semester only for undergraduate bioinformatics students (undergraduate students of other fields of study need to complete a semester of P.E. classes by the end of the first year), as well as for foreign language lectures (obligatory for students of mathematics with MSEM specialisation, optional for all others); more information about lectures can be found on the website of the Centre for Foreign Language Teaching of the University of Warsaw .
Registration for P.E. and lecture classes takes place via the UW USOSWeb website , according to the registration schedule posted there , and registration for P.E. classes starts as early as 9 September.
Organisation of your studies and deadlines
The MIM calendar and student office announcements on FB will help you to meet the deadlines, and you can read about the organisation of studies in the Student Guide and in the Regulations for Studies at the University of Warsaw.
Please also refer to the information on possible adjustments to the course of study, for students whose health condition makes it difficult to complete their studies in a standard mode.
