Operads, monads, and a bit of homotopical al

I will discuss the relations between algebraic structures, operads and
monads. A particular emphasis will be placed on how operads conveniently
capture algebraic structure, themselves being algebraic (in a specific,
formal sense). The presentation will cover classical results, as well as
recent ones due to Marek Zawadowski and myself. In the second part of the
talk I will head towards homotopy theory by surveying model category
structures related to monads, operads, and their algebras.
