The main topic of this talk is a version of the Craig interpolation
theorem formulated for an arbitrary logical system formalised as an
institution, which proved crucial in the development of a number of
key ideas and results concerning foundations of software specification
and formal development. I will examine how admitting empty carriers in
many-sorted first-order structures affects (or rather, does not
affect) Craig interpolation for first-order logic and its variants.
Then, more generally, I will discuss preservation of interpolation
properties under institution extensions by new models and sentences,
pointing out that some interpolation properties remain stable under
such extensions, even if quite arbitrary new models and sentences are
permitted. I will also present (time permitting) complete
characterisations of such situations for institution extensions by new
models, by new sentences, as well as by new models and sentences,
respectively.

Głównym tematem tego wystąpienia jest wersja twierdzenia Craiga o interpolacji
sformułowana dla dowolnego systemu logicznego ujętego w postaci instytucji,
będącej kluczowym pojęciem w rozwoju szeregu istotnych idei i wyników dotyczących
podstaw specyfikacji oprogramowania oraz jego formalnego rozwoju. Omówię, w jaki
sposób dopuszczenie pustych nośników w wielosortowych strukturach logiki
pierwszego rzędu wpływa (a właściwie – nie wpływa) na interpolację Craiga dla
logiki pierwszego rzędu i jej wariantów. Następnie, w ujęciu bardziej ogólnym, przedyskutuję
zachowanie własności interpolacyjnych przy rozszerzeniach instytucji o nowe modele
i zdania, wskazując, że pewne własności interpolacyjne pozostają stabilne przy takich
rozszerzeniach, nawet jeśli dopuści się dosyć arbitralne nowe modele i zdania.
Przedstawię również (o ile czas pozwoli) pełne charakterystyki takich sytuacji dla
rozszerzeń instytucji odpowiednio o nowe modele, o nowe zdania, jak też jednocześnie
o nowe modele i zdania.
