Maximum entropy models of biological data

Biology has many examples of systems of agents acting collectively in fundamentally different ways than they would individually. Maximum entropy models provide a useful tool for analysing these collective phenomena directly from data. We will review examples in neural networks, bird flocks and DNA binding site sequences.
