General transformations between the Heun and the Gauss hypergeometric functions

General transformations between the Heun and the Gauss hypergeometric functions with 2 free parameters were recently classified up to fractional-linear transformations jointly with R. Vidunas (Kobe University, Japan). I shall present an overview of these special functions and the method to derive the transformations.
