In this talk, we will explore the interplay between Besov and Sobolev spaces, focusing on describing properties for non-compact embedding (i.e., strict singularity, etc.). We will begin with an introduction to Besov spaces, highlighting their structure and their relationship with sequence spaces via wavelet decompositions. Using these insights, we will analyze when embeddings between Besov spaces are strictly singular or finitely strictly singular. We will then apply these results to Sobolev embeddings, particularly into Lorentz spaces and provide a more precise characterization of non-compactness.
