Considering severe plastic deformation experiments as a motivation, plastic behavior of crystalline solids is treated as a flow of highly viscous material. We present thermodynamic derivation of a model of the rate dependent crystal plasticity including evolution of the Cauchy stress. Numerical simulations for 2-turn equal channel angular extrusion and channel-die compression are reported.
