Géométrie Algébrique en Liberté

About GAeL

GAeL, Géométrie Algébrique en Liberté, is a conference organised by and for researchers in Algebraic Geometry at the beginning of their scientific career. The conference gives PhD students and post-docs the opportunity to lecture, often for the first time, in front of an international audience. In addition, selected international experts deliver mini-courses on topics at the cutting-edge of important new developments in Algebraic Geometry.

Origins

The first 13 editions of GAeL were organized at the Centre International des Rencontres Mathématiques (Marseille, France), because of which GAeL has a French name. However, nowadays all communication and talks are in English. Most recently, GAeL has taken place in in Bedlewo (Poland), Istanbul (Turkey), Madrid (Spain), Leiden (Netherlands), Coimbra (Portugal), Berlin (Germany) and Grenoble (France). The upcoming conference in 2013 in Stockholm will be the 21st GAeL conference.
