Presentation rules¶
Lasts 15 minutes.
Prepared and presented individually.
With slides in English.
Presented in English or Polish (-3 points).
Followed by a short questions-and-answers session.
Topic of the presentation is related to the topic of our lab: “small” Internet of Things (IoT), low-power devices & communication, embedded systems, wireless sensor network (WSN), etc. It is expected that you present a relatively recent scientific paper (however, if you have a different idea, we may discuss it). If you don’t know what to present, browse conferences like Sensys, EWSN, IPSN, IoTDI, BuildSys, PerCom. Google Scholar is often helpful. Access to some digital libraries (e.g. ACM Digital Library) is available for free from the Faculty’s network.
Notify me about your paper/topic beforehand – I need to accept it.
At least one week before your presentation (till 23:59 the previous Wednesday) you send me an e-mail with a short announcement of your talk – 1-3 sentences. It is in English.
The presentation is graded as follows:
- Content (3 points)
Content of your presentation (not content of the paper!). How you capture the topic, selection of issues, consistent and logical composition, understandability by the audience, …
- Talk (3 points)
How you give the presentation. Talking to the audience, being understandable, not reading your slides, fluent talk, …
- Slides (2 points)
Your slides follow standard rules, suit the paper and your talk, …
- Questions-and-answers (1 point)
How you handle the questions-and-answers session.
- Announcement (1 point)
I receive announcement of your talk in time.
