Meluzyna - the production
of the HiFi stereo receiver Meluzyna DST 101 started around 1972.
It's price was breath taking: 12000 zł (140$ or 5 average month salaries),
and despite it a crowd of music lovers hurried to buy it, which was very
difficult. Nothing strange: "Diora's" menagers admitted in private communication,
that their aimed only to show the device at the fairs and get some prizes
- production and selling was not considered (who would be fool enough to
buy a radio receiver so expensive?).
In fact, this set was the only one
pretending to the High Fidelity level. It was composed of the TST101 tuner,
the WST101 amplifier and a pair of loudspeaker boxes..
It was the multirange receiver: FM
stereo range was enhanced with LW, MW (2 bands?!)
and SW (3 bands covering 13m - 19m range). It was impossible to switch
stereo decoder off in case of weak antenna input. The FM input head was
voltage tuned, but station preselection was not provided - a big
wheel
with the variable resistor inside was used to change the stations.
The amplifier was rated with 2 * 20W
of RMS output power and was provided with its own measure chart. Headphones
output was clearly lacking.
The two way speaker boxes were equipped
with a pair of low-mid loudspeakers and a cone tweeter Audax TW80.
