The conference will take place in the old library of the University of Warsaw, Krakowskie PrzedmieĊcie 26/28, in the center of Warsaw.
The conference dinner will take place in the Belvedere restaurant, in the center of the beautiful Ċazienkowski park, a bit south from the center of Warsaw.
The following link will help you to convert zlotys to other currencies [finance.yahoo.com].
An inexpensive restaurant is between 10 and 20 zlotys, a typical restaurant will start around 30 zlotys.
Warsaw has a very effective public transportation system consisting of buses and tramways. It also has one North-South metro line (probably not useful for this workshop).
Here you can find a map with bus routes from the airport to the conference site, and from the conference site to the Hera hostel.
You can find a map of all the public lines at the following URL: http://ztm.waw.pl/mapa.php, and an explanation of the tarification is available here: http://ztm.waw.pl/taryfa/en/inf.php. A detailed list of the lines is available here: http://www.ztm.waw.pl/baza/20080825/LINIE.HTM. Tramways have numbers below 100.
In short, you can buy a one-time ticket (beware, you can't change bus or tram with such a ticket) for 2.80 zlotys. If you intend to use the public transportation system during the week, we recommand to buy a 3-day (16 zlotys) or a 7-day (32 zlotys) ticket.
The airport (Port Lotniczy im. Fryderyka Chopina, often called Okecie) is not far from the center (about 30 minutes by bus), and is served by two bus lines: 175 (bus stops) and 188 (bus stops). In the detailed time tables, the time of a bus is enclosed in square brackets if the bus floor is at the level of the sidewalk.
Depending on your destination on arrival, you may find it more convenient to take a taxi instead. You will probably pay around 40 zlotys to reach the center.
